Its journey from the fields of the Western Front to display in our new First World War Galleries, nearly one hundred years later, tells us much about the way that the First World War was fought but also how its impact is still with us today in unexpected and surprising ways.

In case you haven’t heard, IWM London will be closing on 6 January until July 2014 as we continue our major redevelopments as part of our plans to mark the Centenary of the First World War in 2014.

When we re-open in July 2014 you will be able to visit our new First World War Galleries alongside our newly configured atrium that will display some of our iconic large objects – such as a Harrier, Spitfire and V2 rocket – plus some exciting new additions (more to be revealed over the coming months!).
